Support through childhood and adolescence
Your concerns may center on school, friendships, behavior at home, or a change in the family. Therapy offers a place to discuss these concerns and work on coping skills that fit your child's needs and stage of development.
My work with children and adolescents includes:
- Anxiety, depression, and mood-related concerns
- ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and behavioral issues
- School-related concerns and peer relationships
- Adjustment to life changes and parent-child relationship difficulties
If a separation or divorce is part of what your child is experiencing, you can also learn about divorce and family support.
An approach shaped around your child
My approach is strength-based and client-centered. I work with children and parents to understand current challenges and build on existing coping skills. The therapeutic interventions used depend on the child's specific needs.
My work draws on expressive play, cognitive therapy, behavior modification, role modeling, and social skills training. Mindfulness and assertiveness training are also among the interventions I use. These approaches provide different ways to explore feelings, practice communication, and address patterns that are causing difficulty.
Parent collaboration is part of my work with children. During consultation, we can discuss your concerns, the support you are seeking, and how to approach the next steps for your family.
Getting started as a parent or caregiver
A free 15-minute consultation is a chance to discuss your child's age, the concerns that brought you here, and whether the practice is a good fit. You might find it helpful to think about what has been difficult at home or school and what you hope support could address.
Ask about current availability, session length, and who should attend the initial appointment. The office can discuss arrangements for your family before a visit.
