Support during a change in family life
A divorce can bring several concerns into the same conversation: your own emotional needs, your child's adjustment, and communication between parents. My work includes helping families navigate these emotional challenges, including when they are also dealing with the court system.
Areas of support in my practice include:
- Emotional support during separation and divorce
- Helping children cope with changes in the family
- Parent-child relationships and family conflict
- Support in high-conflict situations
Attention to parents and children
My approach is strength-based and client-centered. I work collaboratively with families to address their concerns, strengthen coping skills, and work on patterns of communication and interaction.
Children and parents may need different kinds of support as a family changes. My child and adolescent therapy services begin at age 6 and include adjustment issues, anxiety, behavioral concerns, and parent-child relationship difficulties. Individual, couples, and family therapy are also part of my practice.
Consultation is an opportunity to discuss who is seeking care, what the current concerns are, and which service may fit. Contact the office to discuss arrangements for your situation before scheduling.
Experience with divorce and custody matters
My experience includes collaboration with attorneys in New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick, and Onslow counties, and expert witness testimony in high-conflict situations. You can read more about this background on my About page.
If your request involves a custody matter or court participation, explain the specific request when you contact the office so the role, availability, and applicable fees can be discussed. The general therapy rates below should not be read as a quote for court-related work.
Taking the first step
A free 15-minute consultation is available to discuss your needs and whether the practice is a good fit. You can ask about session length, who should attend, and current availability at either office.
For divorce support or family work, discuss the intended service and its cost with the office. Insurance participation does not establish that a particular service is covered; verify the relevant benefits with your insurer.
